Reference Number: A83 Title: Environmental Health & Safety Manager Salary: circa £50000 + 15% bonus Location: North East Reports to: Operations Director Client Our client is the worlds largest commercial security printer and a leading provider of cash sorting equipment and software solutions to central banks and Governments world wide. Main Purpose To lead all IDS EHS processes and related activities to ensure that the business is fully compliant with group policy and best practices. To maintain the IDS Business Continuity Planning function and to keep the Business Continuity Plan current and communicated and ready for immediate implementation. Key Activities Lead all IDS EHS processes procedures and related activities to ensure that the business is fully compliant with group policy and best practices and legislation in each country where IDS operates. Ensure IDS EHS Committee meets frequently continuously advise IDS Leadership Team on EHS legislative requirements and ensure IDS EHS policy is updated and communicated. Compile EHS statistics and present as required. Advise managers on maintaining a safe healthy and environmentally friendly workplace and provide EHS related training. Run IDS internal and external EHS audits as required throughout all sites. Undertake post accident and environmental incident audits and propose actions to reduce exposure to risk including making financial cost/benefit proposals. Introduce an H&S management system compatible with OHSAS 18001. Establish and monitor H&S action plans for each IDS site and ensure regular H&S audits. Lead COHH RIDOR and other workplace H&S initiatives liaising with DLR Group. Introduce accident reduction/prevention programmes and implement/manage risk assessments and investigate all accidents and near misses to minimise claims and prevent further incidents. Achieve successful implementation of ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management framework and monitor same. Establish credible Environment reporting system for EHS Committee. Manage Environmental risk assessments and co-ordinate environmental audits. Responsible for IDS Business Continuity Plan and ensure IDS sites have an appropriate plan. To always act and behave in a way compliant with all De La Rue company guidelines and policies especially those relating to Environmental Health and Safety ethics and codes of conduct. Key qualifications skills and experience required EHS experience in process or manufacturing environment. Sound knowledge of EHS law and its application through effective management systems. A degree or diploma in Health and Safety or Environment is essential. Experience in print industry and of ISO 9001 14001 and 18001 would be an advantage. Good communication skills drive and enthusiasm are a necessary requirement of the position. Other requirements Influencing skills need to be high. Strong process orientation. High attention to detail. Computer literacy.
